Seeking Applicants for Owner-Occupied Housing Rehab Program
Pre-applications due by September 29, 2019
August 30, 2019: The City of Wahoo is once again seeking pre-applications from qualified homeowners for owner-occupied housing rehab funding. Pre-applications are due by September 29th, 2019.
Over the past year the City of Wahoo has worked to assist qualified homeowners by seeking grants to fund improvements to homes. We applied in the Fall of 2018 and our grant application was not approved. We participated in a County-wide application in the Spring of 2019 and with that we were able to secure grant funding for 5 projects. A project is limited to $25,000 of improvements for one qualified applicant owning their own home - and we got 5 of these funded! In preparation for our grant applications, we requested pre-applications from individuals who were interested... and we received OVER 40 pre-applications!!! We were surprised at the interest and acknowledge that this type of response shows there is a definite need for assistance.
So in response to this overwhelming interest, the City of Wahoo is again pursing a grant application this fall. Our final grant application is due September 30, 2019, and we need all pre-applications returned to our SENDD who is assisting us with our application. Please see the attached brochure for more information, and if you are interested, please download the pre-application from our website or stop in at City Hall to pick one up. If you have previously submitted a pre-app through either one of our grant application processes, it is not necessary for you to re-submit.

Information on the specifics of the program is available in the brochure (link below), but are generally described below:
Eligible expenses include:
- Structural - foundation, roof, etc.
- Mechanical - furnace, water heater, etc.
- Electrical - wiring, fuse boxes
- Plumbing
- Weatherization - windows, doors, insulation, siding, etc.
- General Maintenance - kitchens, bathrooms, etc.
- Handicapped Accessibility - ramps, bathrooms, etc.
- Safety and Code deficiencies
Expenses that are NOT generally eligible:
- Garages and outbuildings
- Window AC units
- Fireplaces
- Landscape and fencing
- Jacuzzis, hot tubs, spas
- Kitchen appliances
- Any costs for repairs not completed in the program

SENDD is an organization located in Lincoln, NE that assists communities with application for and administration of grants such as this.
