Lake Wanahoo State Recreation Area
ABOUT
Lake Wanahoo State Recreation Area is a flood control reservoir just north of Wahoo. It offers excellent fishing, no-wake boating and camping.
FISHING
Lake Wanahoo is stocked with largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, blue catfish, walleye and northern pike. Four fishing breakwaters are located on the west shore and three are located on the east. One breakwater on each shore is handicap accessible. Some tagged norther pike are stocked in the lake, and anglers are encouraged to report these by calling (402) 471-7647 or sending an email to NGPC Fishtags.
BOATING
Lake Wanahoo is a no-wake lake. There is a boat ramp on the west side of the lake. Boaters are urged to use caution because of underwater hazards and shallow areas.
DAY-USE
A day use area on the east side of the lake offers picnic shelters, picnic tables and a hike-bike trail.
CAMPING
Lake Wanahoo offers 24 grass pads with 20- and 50-amp electrical hookups, 50 gravel pads with electrical hookups and 60 tent camping sites without electricity.
