The City of Wahoo is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and self‑motivated Cemetery Supervisor to lead the daily operations of our city cemetery. This is more than a maintenance role—it is stewardship of a space that holds our community’s history, memories, and stories.

🌟 What You’ll Do
As our Cemetery Supervisor, you will play a vital leadership role by coordinating, performing, and overseeing all aspects of cemetery operations, including:
Grounds & Maintenance
- Lead and participate in mowing, trimming, watering, fertilizing, snow removal, and general grounds care.
- Operate and maintain a variety of vehicles, machinery, and tools.
Burial & Site Coordination
- Mark grave sites, coordinate and assist with grave digging, and oversee placement of headstones and monuments.
- Ensure accurate record‑keeping and support customers in selecting and purchasing grave spaces.
Customer Service & Community Engagement
- Provide respectful, knowledgeable assistance to families and the public.
- Uphold and enforce municipal codes related to cemetery operations.
Administrative Support
- Assist with billing, burial arrangement documentation, and communications with funeral homes and families.
- Manage inventory, maintain safety standards, and support winter street maintenance operations as needed.
📘 What You Need
Knowledge of:
- Cemetery, grounds, and street maintenance practices
- Proper use of equipment, vehicles, and tools
- Municipal codes and safety procedures
Ability to:
- Plan, assign, and supervise staff work effectively
- Communicate clearly with internal teams and the public
- Work independently and manage multiple tasks or interruptions
- Provide courteous and compassionate service
💪 Physical & Work Environment
- Outdoor work year‑round with exposure to weather, dirt, dust, chemicals, noise, and uneven terrain
- Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs
- Occasional work near moving machinery and equipment
🎓 Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Two years of cemetery or grounds maintenance experience
- Two years of supervisory experience
- Valid Nebraska driver’s license
- Ability to report to work within 15 minutes under normal conditions
